Successful Kyu Gradings
Throughout the year we hold kyu gradings, and this year we have had a 100% success.
It's so great to see the development and achievements in our kyu grades, with the support of family and friends.

Winter & Summer Gashuku
East Coast Shotokan Karate club have been a part of the SKIFF Winter and Summer Gashuku's for many years now. This year, one of our very own students won "Student of the Year" for putting in so much effort and having fun, whilst being the youngest member of the weekend.
These weekends involve training with instructors and other students from across the country; from Bo staff to nunchucks, self-defence to beach training. Lots of karate and team games, but most of all, lots of fun!

International women's Day
East Coast Shotokan Karate club celebrated International Women's Day during the winter gashuku and during class.
ECSK have strong female karate-ka demonstrating great role models.

Dan Grading Success
Maren Duvendack achieved her 2nd Dan in March with guest panellist Renshi Leigh 7th Dan, and guest karate-ka from SKKIF Watford who put Maren under pressure during her kumite.

Seminars
ECSK hosted seminars this year with Renshi Leigh 7th Dan from SKKIF Kodakai Karate School, Watford; delivering a class on basics, kumite and kata. For many ECSK students, this was their first experience and insight of training with another Shotokan Instructor.
We also hosted Sensei Steve King 5th Dan from Samurai Karate School, Wisbech; teaching elements of kihon and turning them into combat situations

'Bring a Friend'
ECSK hosted a 'Bring a Friend to class' day where our club member brought a family member or friend to class to show off and demonstrate their karate skills to a loved one.
Much fun had by all !
